Air Cadets meet the Boss Beaver

March 3rd, 2010

The Captain Brian Barker Air Cadet Squadron 363 of Campbell River came for a tour last night. John and Bob showed them around the airport hangar. Everyone is talking about how impressed they are with this squadron this year.   The Boss Beaver is a visitor, a refugee from Vancouver.  We have several planes temporarily based in Campbell River to escape the Olympic Games no-fly zone.

Enhancement surgery on FKL

March 3rd, 2010

Sometimes I think these pictures are a little intimate, a little bit like those pictures of plastic surgery you see on TV. Although I prefer to think of FKL all painted up and flying, here’s what she looks like right now while we install the Cabin Kit and Alaska Door.

Navajo Gear-up

March 1st, 2010

We’ve been featuring Beavers on our Blog, but there are a lot more than Beaver’s in the hangar.  Right now,  along with all the Beavers we are working on a few Cessnas, a Wilga from England, the Yak 52, a Bushmaster and a Navajo.  The Navajo had a gear-up landing so needs a little belly work:

It doesn’t look any different…

The Beavers are S/N 1545, VH-IDO, (”the Aussie”)  getting the Cabin Extension; S/N 1687TB55, N1543 (Mike’s plane) which is in line for a retrofitted Alaska Door; S/N 1343, C-FFKL about to get a Cabin Extension Kit with Alaska Door; and, all in green, is S/N 1613, C-FPBJ (”Peanut Butter and Jam”) with it’s Alaska Doors open.

The hangar is never big enough!

February 15th, 2010

We have 14,400 square feet inside the hangar at the airport and there’s never enough room!

Greg and Emily spent Valentine’s Day moving stuff around so that we have space to work. This is a “before” picture of the front of the hangar.
