The Beaver Song Takes Off!

Waaay back when, Viking Air hosted a memorable 50th Birtday Party for the DHC-2 de Havilland Beaver.  A good time was had by all, and there was this song....

The Fretless Bar Girls wrote the lyrics and performed the song to an enthusiastic audience at the evening banquet.  Bill loved the song, and asked them to record it for posterity.  We made a whole bunch of CD's and gave them to all our customers and friends. When we were able to, we posted the song on our website.  Our webstats show the Beaver Song always gets a lot of hits, and it seems to have become an underground hit.

Now someone has made a youtube Collage, with great pictures, and it seems the whole world is singing along. It's been up for a few weeks, was viewed 32000 times by last Friday, 48,000 times by today.  The song is set to the music of the classic Irish Rovers song, the Unicorn.  You can't get it out of your head.

The Fretless Bar Girls were Annemarie Koch and Elizabeth Harvey, two young women from Sointula B.C.  They would perform their wonderful songs at corporate retreats and seminars held at west coast fishing lodges.  Annemarie wrote the lyrics based on the stories she heard as a girl when she lived on the Port Hardy Airport.  Its a winner!
